NEW STUDIES SUGGEST MILLIONS WITH SIGNS OF DEMENTIA GO UNDIAGNOSED UNTIL IT’S TOO LATE

There are a number of signs and symptoms of dementia that you could look out for in your younger years that could show you are at an increased risk of being diagnosed with the condition.

A new study has shown that mild cognitive impairment, which is an early stage of dementia, is widely underdiagnosed in people 65 and older.

Mild cognitive impairment is an early sign of Alzheimer's disease in almost 50% of all cases, which is what makes this recent study so confusing.

A study shared by psypost.com stated that only 8% of cases with mild cognitive impairment that was expected based on a statistical model had actually been diagnosed.

Symptoms of mild cognitive impairment include losing the ability to remember recent events and appointments, make sound decisions and master complex task.

While the likes of dementia can't be cured, there are benefits to detecting it early. It allows for earlier planning for how care will be provided, addressing legal and financial needs, and advanced care planning for end-of-life care.

All of these things can be crucial when it comes to treating the condition with the severity it requires.
